Climate/Weather

Why is climate/weather at the top of the top 10 list?  Even though the list is not ordered in any particular order I would have to say that most people would agree that weather is very important to them.  There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t talk about weather.  You may be starting your day by turning on your TV or radio to check on the day’s weather, or in passing, a neighbor may say – nice day isn’t it? The weather affects the way we feel, our health and our mental state.  When it is a nice sunny day you feel more energetic and positive.

Unfortunately most people in North America and northern Europe live in climates that are not ideal, especially as you get older.  You would consider yourself lucky if every other day would be a nice sunny day.  This is where Costa Rica comes in.

El Coco Bay

Costa Rica enjoys great climate most of the year.  Mild subtropical conditions prevail year-round, and temperature extremes are rare.  Temperatures vary according to elevation, and are cooler in the mountainous regions.  There are two seasons in Costa Rica – dry season and rainy season (also known as green season).  Dry season lasts from November to May and rainy season lasts about five month.  Rain falls mainly on the Caribbean coast giving the Pacific coast a more favorable climate.  On the northern Pacific coast even the rainy season means that you can enjoy morning sunshine while late afternoon showers make the countryside lush and green.
